Great Barrier Reef - Port Douglas
There's a reef tour available to suit every style and budget whether you want to snorkel or SCUBA dive, or see the reef by glass bottom or semi-submersible boat. Sail to a magic coral island or cruise to the outer reef and view the underwater wonder world - the Great Barrier Reef . The one I would recommend is HABA, friendly, welcoming, informing, we spent a wonderful day with them, my Husband doesn't swim but went out on the glass bottom boat and was lucky enough to see a Minky whale while I snorkelled happily.
Fishing choices include the challenge of game fishing on the reef or sports fishing in local estuaries and rivers.
Every Sunday from 8am - 2pm at the waterfront park on Macrossan & Wharf Streets. You must check out the colourful and vibrant Sunday Markets! The waterfront comes alive, as local and regional craftspeople, artisans, market growers and performers display their fine and varied products.
From the Sunday markets to the specialty boutiques and leisure retail stores and the rainforest craft shops. Shopping is a part of any holiday, whether you're searching for a simply made local souvenir, jewellery, designer clothing, good book or exclusive piece of artwork, Port Douglas has it all.
Port Douglas offers a multitude of restaurants, bistros, cafes & eating establishments to choose from; most located within an easy 5 minute walk from Macrossan Street in the town centre. Fresh seafood, modern Australian, Mediterranean and Asian influences are all woven into exotic dishes, and the most wonderful ice cream.
To enjoy the surrounding area a bike is a good idea and the best bike shop and tourist information bureau is on Macrossan St next door to a wonderful Aboriginal shop.

We also visited the Rainforest Habitat and had breakfast with the birds, not to be missed.
We spent a long weekend there and it wasn't enough, the beach looked wonderful, but please remember that they do have crocodiles in the waterways.
