- Camara de Lobos - A fishing village hardly changed by time and a favourite spot of Winston Churchill's · Camacha - Centre of the wickerwork industry
- Cabo Girao - The world's second highest sea cliff
- Santana - Typical local thatched houses with pointed roofs
- Porto Moniz - Swim in the volcanic rock sea pools
- Monte - The start of the celebrated toboggan ride to Funchal
- Sao Vincente Caves - Paths opened by fiery magma belched from the island's last volcanoes
- Porto Santo - A small island off Madeira , two and half hours by boat or 15 minutes by plane from Madeira Airport , where you can find an eight-kilometre sandy beach.
- Machico - has the oldest church 'Capela dos Milagres' and two forts still bear witness to the locals defence against the many pirate attacks on the village.
- Ribeiro Frio - this popular starting point for levada walks.
- Curral das Freiras - The ' Nuns Valley ' is a small village nestled between enormous mountain slopes in the heart of the island.
- Pico do Arieiro - This is the second highest peak on the island with its altitude of 1,818 meters.
- Camacha - is a beautiful small village a few kilometres east of Funchal and also famous for its apple festival and very active folklore dance troops.
- Santana - Characterised by its little thatched triangular houses,
- Pico Ruivo - With its altitude of 1,861 meters it is the highest peak on the island.

Madeira does not really have beaches. There are lido's around the Island .
What to Buy
Tablecloths - Madeiran Embrodiery is expensive but very beautiful. Make sure you buy those that have the little lead seals attached, they are the authentic ones
Leatherwork
Flowers - you can buy cut flowers or bulbs.
Madeiran Wine - Madeira is wonderful. Really recommended.

The Madeira mall is well worth a visit, lots of shops to spend your money in including a candle shop and a perfume shop.
