Monte Cable Car

Carros de cesto (basket cars)

  • In addition to the more orthodox forms of transport mentioned above, you can also find a very original method of transport that is unique to Madeira : the carro de cesto (basket car). An exciting trip aboard one of these starts at Monte, ending up at Funchal. A thrilling ride - the ideal way to travel down from Monte after a trip by cable car. Don't miss it. Public Transport

  • If you prefer to use public transport, there are several bus companies that will take you to the main tourist sites and offer great value for money. There is the open air bus that goes around Funchal on a regular basis.

Taxis

  • Taxis are available at the airport, at the main hotels and several squares in Funchal.
